21 lessons for the 21st century book review and summary of 21 lessons for the 21st century

Yuval Noah Harare has often described many things as irrevelent in this book and reading his views or the lessons he teaches in his book, I feel that that the expectation I had from this book were also irrevelant.

Although he has accuratly envisaged the influence of AI in upcoming era, he has not given clear, if not crystal, solutions to solve them. His stance on AI's intelligence is no doubt scathing, but is necassary. He talks about the Unprecedent dictatorship these AI will impose, yet he does not ask the Leaders of world to control it or atleast confront it in fruitful manner.

However, his views on the axcess of technology and its uses are worth pondering. He says that in this era of technology and information, man can do everything and yet does not do anything. We have so much of information that we cannot confirm its accuracy. This thing encourages (or compells) people to make them become escapist and find pleasure in entertainment. "Technology isnt bad, if you know what you want in life, it can help you; but if you dont know what you want, it will be easy for technology to control you and your wantings".

He also opines that due to this era of (mis) information, one cannot comprehend the complications of world order, its conflicts and the mind of masses. We are facing issues we had never thought.  Our nature is instrictively bellicosed but the era we live in infurates it further. In this scanerio, we should not understimate human follies: the wish to conquor the world, the desire to dominate everyone. These follies are harming nature yet we can not do anything because we are connected to it throug nationalism. Every nations wants to be superior rather than being unique. This quest of superiority  quells the peace. However, peace is still there, but it is in the shadow of war. We are doing little for education, for making our brains strong; our sole effort is to saturate ourselves with fatal weapons. These weapons, I think, we will not use either; but our folly -to get ahead in this arms' race- makes us vulnerable.

He revolves around technology, war and lesson we can learn from them. He further propounds that no nation can win over other nation in direct war (which is a reality everyone knows) but the soft power we claim to demonstrate our claim of being eternal superior is somewhat ignites us, and world around us, to uproar and encumber world peace. This thing is a cliche, I think, because it happens everyday and with everwhere;be it Americans movies and drama series: in which they claim to be super heroes and save the world,  or through Turkish or any other drama and movie industry. He just want us to read and learn the lessons, lessons lurking deep inside.

He also talks about religion which is his personal opinion, and discussion of which is not apropriate; but he just thinks it (religion) the figment of imagination which I dont consider just, nor want to talk about it. It is his own Figment of Imagination
