HEC decides to extend two-year graduation (BA, BS and B.Com, MA, M.Sc and M.Com) programs across the country for one more year, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has decided to extend the two-year programs across the country. Also issued regular notification of extension till 2022. Universities across the country will be allowed to continue their BA, B.Sc, B.Com or MA, M.Sc, M.Com programs till 2022 or the two-year associate degree and four-year B.Com announced under the new policy. It may be recalled that the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan had agreed to postpone the two-year associate degree and four-year BS graduation program in universities and colleges across the country, the notification of which has been issued soon. This consent was expressed on July 2 at a meeting of Vice Chancellors of public and private universities across the country. HEC Pakistan was represented at the meeting by Executive Director Shaista Sohail, while the Vice Chancellors of the universities were represented by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah and about 150 public and private universities across the country. The Vice Chancellors attended the meeting.
Speaking to The Express after the meeting, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah University Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shah confirmed that the two-year associate degree and four-year graduation have been postponed for the time being. Arguments cited by the PHEC have assured that the HEC will prepare a summary and send it to the commission members through circulation and with the approval of the members a notification will be issued to postpone both the programs. Members were also present in the meeting.
