MUKHI HOUSE HYDERABAD, one of the beautiful ancient buildings of Hyderabad. It shows rich heritage of Hyderabad Sindh in past

MUKHI HOUSE HYDERABAD, one of the beautiful ancient  buildings of Hyderabad. The colossal house was constructed in 1920 by renowned personality Jethanand Mukhi. He called it as Mukhi Mehal. This house was the property of two Sindhi brothers of Mukhi family,   Gobindaram and Jethanand. Jethanand Mukhi died in 1927. In 1947, just before partition, much of Mukhi family migrated to India, while some family members lived and visited untill 1957. Subsequently the house touched many hands and ultimately got abandoned. It was taken under the supervision Department of Archeology, Government of Sindh in 2009. They decided that it would be converted into Musium.

The palace is located near Pakka Qila in Hyderabad which attracts tourists even today. The stones used in it are from Jodhpur, India. Even its doors and windows are made of Sheesham and Sagwan wood. The palace has 12 rooms, two courtyards, two big halls, and a dome.

The Mukhi House was built around 1921 by an influential Hindu Sindhi family, which it occupied for approximately 26 years. In 1947 just before the partition of Pakistan from India, much of the Mukhi family migrated to India, while a few members lived and visited the home until 1957. Subsequently the house changed many hands, and ultimately was abandoned and fell into disrepair.

In 2008, the descendants of the Mukhi family relinquished future claims to the Mukhi House on condition that it be conserved and converted into a museum. The conservation was led by Dr. Kaleem Lashari from the Department of Antiquities in Sindh. Now it's converted into the shape of a museum & opened for tourists.
