Pegasus spyware Software allows access to the phone’s microphone, camera and applications.

 Pegasus  spyware software is  developed by the Israeli Cyber Force  NSO organisation that can be covertly installed on mobile phones  running most versions of iOS and android. The 2021 Project Pegasus revelations suggest that current Pegasus software is able to exploit all recent iOS versions up to iOS 14.6.



 According to the  BBC and other prominent media sources, Pegasus Spyware Software not only enables the keystroke monitoring of all communications from a phone {Text, Emails, Web searches} but it also enables phone call and location tracking, while also permitting NSO_Group to hack both the mobile phone's microphone and cameras, thus turning it into a constant surveillance device.
Pegasus Spyware software is stated as intended to be used against Criminals and Militants, use by authoritarian governments to spy on enimies and opponents has often been tracked reported .

Scandal in India

In  2019, Facebook org initiated a suit against NSO org, claiming that Pegasus Spyware had been used to Intercept the Whats App communication of a number of activists, Social Activists, Journalists, and Bureaucrats in India, leading to accusations that the Indian government was involved.

Phone numbers of Indian ministers, opposition leaders and journalists were found on a database of NSO hacking targets by Project Pegasus in 2021.
